The main idea of this book is to decide, focus on the positives, and understand, that you are not giving anything up – you are gaining health, savings, being more relaxed(versus trying to feed “little monster” – nicotine addiction), nicer teeth, etc. Author is doing wonderful job dispelling the myths about smoking – that people enjoy smoking(they just enjoy the relief, when addiction is fed, there is not true enjoyment in smoking), that it is very hard to quit(the physical part is very light, and mind part is something that this book will help you with), that after 3 weeks, when nicotine completely leaves your body, you can smoke one and nothing will happen – it will, even if you don’t like it, you would get readdicted again.
Okey, I am not a smoker(actually I never even tried), never was drunk and never tried any drugs(except pharmaceuticals),I don’t have anyone close, who smokes, so you might ask, why I am reading this book. Well, I am addicted to sugar and proccessed carbs. So as I kept reading the book, I plugged in processed carbs instead, and since it is also very light addiction in terms of physical withdrawal, public acceptance, and massive brainwashing, it fits just as well.I finished a book yesterday, became whole carbs eater as of yesterday and this morning I already felt less groggy. As far as physical symptoms go so far just had one slight pang yesterday night – nothing today. I had a few periods in my life where I ate whole foods only for a few months and I felt amazing. This a wonderful book for most light type addictions- I mean physically light.
Now the reason I gave it 4 stars is, that the author is ignoring one important part – emotional wellbeing. He makes it look in the book, that if you stop smoking, everything else will fall into places and you will be happy. Happiness is a state of mind, and that won’t happen just because you stopped smoking or any other addiction, you have to consciously find ways to guide your mind into relaxed state. That said, there are many books out there, that can help us with this part like Abraham-Hicks Ask And It Is Given, Katie Byron work, Sedona Method,EFT, NLP, and many others.
Read this book and a few of those mentioned and you will be very well ready to step into freedom from smoking or any other addiction.
