I just feel a certain sense of obligation to write a quick note to anyone out there who’s thinking about getting this book – I have to tell you, I was half hearted about quitting, feeling somewhat defeated already going into it – I’d been trying to quit for a few weeks, but bought this book the same day I gave in to the nagging craving – thinking well what the hell – I got the book, and leafed through the pages while I smoke that pack I’d bought – that very pack which was to become my last pack – when I finished the book – shortly after finishing that last pack and I haven’t smoked since. I think the greatest concept I was able to glean from this book was the idea that I’m not the deprived one. This book just enabled me to see the whole thing differently – it put smoking in it’s place for me – and allowed me to see quitting smoking as the positive thing, and to continue smoking as the negative thing it is. It did this without preaching, without cliche’s or cheesey sayings. Of all the “self help” books and all the “quit smoking” hype – this book just makes sense and for me at least made the act of quitting smoking easy and even pleasurable – I am now smoke free and loving it.
